“Harvard参考文献”实际指什么
Harvard是一种方法的名称，不是一部出版物。凡在正文中按作者和年份引用、并在文末按字母排列来源的体例，都属于Harvard型或作者–年份体例，因此APA和Chicago author-date看起来相近。哈佛大学并不出版或维护它。为这次改写于2026年10月5日打开的图书馆FAQ仍然这样写：

英国多数大学现在指向的版本是Richard Pears与Graham Shields所著Cite Them Right: The Essential Referencing Guide第13版（Bloomsbury Academic，2025年5月1日，平装ISBN 9781350477261），同样内容也在Cite Them Right Online上。本指南全程使用该版。第13版从图书参考文献中去掉出版地，增加了关于人工智能生成材料的说明，并要求期刊使用文章ID而非页码时写article而不是article number。University of Dundee仍列出2025年夏季的这些变更。若院系指南仍在出版社前写城市，它写于第12版或更早：以那份指南为准。

常见Harvard变体

主要来源类型的参考文献条目
每条参考文献都遵循同一骨架：谁（姓氏与首字母，或机构）、何时（圆括号中的年份）、什么（标题：整部著作用斜体，著作的一部分用单引号），然后是读者查找所需的细节。书籍和文章标题用句首大写：只大写首词和专有名词。期刊名保持标题大写。首字母后加点号；有的指南加空格（J. M.），有的不加（J.M.）。保持一致。图书、期刊文章和网站的专页覆盖这里放不下的更多边角情况。

作者、年份、斜体标题、非初版时的版次、出版社。Cite Them Right第13版不给出出版地；只有指南仍要求时，才在出版社前加Place:。看起来像纸质书的电子书（带页码的PDF，或图书馆副本）按纸质书著录。Westminster说法相同。在没有固定页码的设备上阅读的电子书，加上Available at: URL (Accessed: date)。编者在姓名后加(ed.)或(eds)。

间接引用是引用你没有读过的著作，因为另一部你已经读过的著作讨论了它。Cite Them Right的规则，经Westminster和UWE复述，很简单：在正文中同时点名两者，转述用cited in，直接引文用quoted in，参考文献表中只列入你实际读过的著作。请少用；评分人期望你在原作可得时去找原作。给出的是你读过的来源的页码，不是原作的页码。见引用间接来源。

参考文献表的版式
- 标题： Westminster要求学生把页面标题写成
references或list of references，而不是bibliography，并且只列入有正文引用的来源。只有列表还包含你读过但未引用的著作、且指南允许时，才使用Bibliography——见参考文献表与书目。 - 顺序： 无论来源类型，按第一作者姓氏（或机构名）排成一份字母表。不要把图书和网站分开，也不要给条目编号。
- 同一作者的多部著作： 先旧后新。同一作者、同一年：按标题字母顺序在年份后加
a、b、c，正文中使用相同字母——见同一作者、同一年。 - 同姓不同作者： 按首字母排序。机构按其名称第一个实义词归档。
- 缩进： Cite Them Right不要求悬挂缩进。许多英国指南不用；有些要求。若你的指南要求，悬挂缩进格式化工具可以应用。
- 间距： 通常条目单倍行距、条目之间空一行，但这是大学规则，不是Cite Them Right规则。
- 每条引用对应一条条目，每条条目至少有一条引用。电子邮件和谈话等私人通信只在正文中引用并给出日期，不出现在列表中——见私人通信。

Cite Them Right Harvard对照澳大利亚作者–年份
在体系之间转换时最容易绊倒学生的变体是澳大利亚作者–年份。许多较旧的澳大利亚和新西兰大学指南仍遵循Australian Government Publishing Service Style Manual第6版（2002）：正文中无逗号，列表每个成分之间都有逗号，出版社在出版地之前，以及viewed 5 October 2026。现行Australian Government Style Manual于2026年2月18日更新，已改为列表中年份在括号内，并用accessed而不是viewed。它仍然禁止括号中的逗号：

如何确认你的大学要哪一种Harvard
- 先读作业说明和课程手册。若任一者点名某个版本（“Cite Them Right Harvard”“Leeds Harvard”“ARU Harvard”）或链接到PDF，该文件优先于包括本指南在内的一切。
- 若说明只写“Harvard”，在图书馆网站搜索referencing。多数英国图书馆现在点名Cite Them Right。典型页面：University of Westminster、University of Dundee、Anglia Ruskin Cite Them Right、UWE Bristol Cite Them Right。Leeds仍发布Leeds Harvard。
- 把该页的一条图书参考文献与上表对照。年份（有无括号）、出版地和URL前的措辞会告诉你属于哪一族。
- 核对角即使在Cite Them Right指南之间也会变化的三点：首字母是否空格、参考文献表中et al.从何处开始、DOI后是否跟访问日期。
- 选定一个版本并处处使用。评分人对混用的扣分远重于对意外变体的扣分。
- 把完成的列表交给Harvard引用检查器，查找缺失成分和标点失误。
常见Harvard错误
- 年份后加句号：
Hunt, L. (2004).是APA标点，不是Cite Them Right。 - 作者之间用&：Harvard写成
Pears, R. and Shields, G.，正文中是(Pears and Shields, 2025)。 - 文章标题用双引号，或完全不用引号。Cite Them Right使用单引号。
- 把文章标题设为斜体、期刊名保持正体。应该反过来。
- 写成没有冒号和括号的
Accessed 5 October 2026，或October 5, 2026这样的美式日期。应写(Accessed: 5 October 2026). - 引用编者而不是章节作者——把Edwards的章节写成(Bull, 2020)。
- 在间接引用中列入原作，而你只读了引用它的著作。
- 正文中在三位作者时改用et al.。Cite Them Right写出三位——(Bandura, Ross and Ross, 1961)——从四人起缩短。
- 作业要求参考文献表时，用未读来源填满书目。
- 混用两种变体：一条用无括号的Leeds式年份，下一条用Cite Them Right括号。
- 为Pears and Shields抄Westminster的Macmillan行，而不是Bloomsbury第13版。
- 在2026年9月之后布置的UWE作业中使用残留的UWE Bristol Harvard（

用Cite Them Right Harvard生成参考文献表
粘贴URL、DOI或ISBN，Harvard生成器会按本页使用的Cite Them Right形式写出参考文献和对应的正文引用。检查器随后标出评分人会圈出的问题。若作业是APA，先切换到Harvard与APA再改格式。

- 我应该使用哪一版Harvard？
- 课程手册或图书馆点名的那一版。若都未点名，Cite Them Right第13版（2025）在英国和爱尔兰最稳妥，因为Westminster、Dundee、ARU以及现在的UWE都指向它。Leeds仍维护Leeds Harvard。在澳大利亚，核对该指南遵循现行Style Manual（列表中年份在括号内，正文中无逗号），还是旧AGPS第6版残留。
- Harvard中作者和年份之间要加逗号吗？
- 在Cite Them Right Harvard中要加：(Hunt, 2004)。Harvard Library自己的示例写成无逗号的(Robbins 1987)，现行Australian Government Style Manual则说"Don’t separate the name and date with a comma."两种形式本身都不错；错的是在同一份作业里混用两者。
- Harvard正文引用需要页码吗？
- 每条直接引文以及凡指向具体段落、图或表时都需要：(Hunt, 2004, p. 12)。针对整部著作总体论点的引用只需作者和年份。对没有页码的来源，如Race (no date)或在线Petridis (2015)，可以给出段落或省略定位。
- 如何著录无作者或无日期的来源？
- 没有具名个人时，使用机构——(National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, 2024)——若也没有机构，把标题移到作者位置。没有日期时，在参考文献和引用中都写(no date)，正如Westminster对Race, P. (no date)的做法。先查找最后更新日期；只有查找失败时才用(no date)。
- 每个URL都需要访问日期吗？
- 网页、在线报告、视频和在线报纸文章需要：Available at: URL (Accessed: 5 October 2026)。带DOI的期刊文章在Cite Them Right中不需要。Westminster的FAQ写得很明确："Do not include an accessed date when using a DOI."
- Harvard中参考文献表和书目有何区别？
- 参考文献表只包含你在正文中引用的来源。书目包含这些，再加上你读过的其他材料。Westminster要求学生把页面标题写成references或list of references，而不是bibliography，除非作业还要求背景阅读。
- 如何著录教科书引用过的内容？
- 使用间接引用：转述写成(Smith, 2020, cited in Jones, 2021)，直接引文用quoted in。只有你读过的著作Jones进入参考文献表。先尽量找到并阅读原作；间接引用用于原作不可得时。
- 我的Harvard参考文献表需要悬挂缩进吗？
- Cite Them Right不要求，许多英国大学把列表左对齐、条目之间空一行。有些指南以及多数澳大利亚指南要求悬挂缩进。核对自己的指南；若需要，在文字处理软件中设置，而不是用空格或制表符。
- UWE Bristol Harvard是否已停用？
- 是。2026年10月5日打开的UWE本页写明，Cite Them Right Harvard从2026年9月起取代UWE Bristol Harvard成为默认，且旧UWE变体在2026年夏季停用。新的UWE作业不应使用Available from: URL [Accessed date]。
