Attendance Sheet Generator

Paste your class list and print a monthly attendance register with a column for every school day, a weekly register with optional morning and afternoon boxes, or a sign-in sheet with signature and times. Mark days off, add absent and tardy totals, and print on Letter or A4. Free, no sign-up.

Leave it empty for a blank register to fill in by hand.

Blank numbered rows fill the sheet up to this number, for late arrivals.

For example: 4, 11-13, 25. Leave empty if every school day counts.

How to Use the Attendance Sheet Generator

  1. 1. Paste the class list. One name per line. Blank numbered rows fill the sheet up to the number you choose, so late joiners have a place; a long list simply continues on the next page.
  2. 2. Pick the sheet. Monthly register has a column for each school day of the month you choose, with the weekday and date on every column. Weekly register shows Monday to Friday, with optional morning and afternoon boxes. Sign-in sheet has columns for a signature, time in and time out.
  3. 3. Set the days. Add Saturdays or Sundays if your school meets then, and list days off — 4, 11-13, 25 — to shade those columns or leave them out. The weekdays are worked out for the month and year, including leap years.
  4. 4. Print. Choose Letter or A4 and print at 100% with headers and footers off. Monthly sheets are landscape by default; the margin is 0.5 inch on Letter and 12 mm on A4.

Marking Codes and Totals

The key at the bottom of the register suggests a simple code: a slash for present, A for absent, T for tardy and E for excused. Schools and districts use their own systems — some mark only absences, some use separate codes for illness and authorised leave — so replace these with your school's codes and turn the key off if it does not apply. With the totals option, the register ends with an Absent and a Tardy column for the month's counts.

Attendance records are often an official record, and the rules on what to record and how long to keep it vary by country, state and school. Check your own policy: this tool prints the sheet and keeps nothing. Your class list is used only in your browser to draw the sheet and is never uploaded.

Days Off and Weekends

Because holidays are set locally, the generator adds no days off of its own. Type the dates that are not school days in the month — single days and ranges such as 21-25 — and choose whether those columns are shaded, which keeps the layout identical to a wall calendar, or left out, which gives the remaining days more room. Dates outside the month are ignored. The sheet starts on the right weekday for any month from 1900 to 2200, so you can plan next year's registers in advance.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make a monthly attendance sheet?
Choose Monthly register, pick the month and year, paste the class list and print. Each school day of the month gets its own column with the weekday letter and the date, and the generator works out which weekday each date falls on. Add days off and the totals columns if you need them.
How do I mark holidays and days off?
Type the day numbers in the Days off box — for example 4, 11-13, 25 — and choose to shade or remove those columns. Nothing is pre-filled, because holidays differ between schools, so add the days your school is closed.
How many students fit on one sheet?
Thirty rows fit on one landscape monthly page or one portrait weekly page, on Letter or A4. The sign-in sheet has taller rows so there is room to sign, which gives about 26 rows per page on Letter and 29 on A4. A longer list continues onto further pages with the column headings repeated, up to 200 names.
Can I include Saturdays or Sundays?
Yes. Tick Include Saturdays or Include Sundays and those days get columns too. They are off by default because most schools meet Monday to Friday.
What attendance codes should I use?
Use whatever your school or district requires. The printed key suggests a slash for present and A, T and E for absent, tardy and excused. Turn the key off if your school uses other codes, and write yours in by hand or on the class list.
Can I print a blank attendance sheet?
Yes. Clear the class list and the sheet prints numbered blank rows up to the row count you chose, with blank class and teacher lines in the heading. Students or volunteers can write their names in, or you can fill them in by hand.
Does the tool save or send my class list?
No. The list stays in your browser tab, the sheet is drawn there, and nothing is uploaded or stored. Reload the page and the list is gone, so keep your own copy.
