How to Use the Printable Calendar Generator

  1. 1. Choose the layout and the year. Year at a glance puts all twelve months on one page; One month per page gives each month a full sheet with room to write in each day, and you pick how many months to print.
  2. 2. Set the start. Pick the first month, or use a quick start: a calendar year from January, or an academic year from August or September. The week can begin on Sunday or Monday, and you can show ISO week numbers and shade weekends.
  3. 3. Add the holidays. Type one per line: 2026-12-25 Winter holiday for a day, 2026-12-21..2027-01-01 Winter break for a range, or 12-25 Christmas Day for a date that repeats every year. They are shaded on the calendar and labelled in the day box.
  4. 4. Print. Choose Letter or A4, portrait or landscape, and print at 100% with headers and footers off. The margin is 0.5 inch on Letter and 12 mm on A4.

Holidays You Add, Not Ones We Guess

Holidays differ by country, region, school and religion, and many move from year to year, so the generator marks only the dates you give it. A month page shades the day and writes your label in the box, so a teacher can see a break at a glance. The year view shades the day numbers and lists each holiday under the months, joining a run of days into one line — Dec 21 – Jan 1 Winter break. Dates that repeat every year can be written without the year, such as 12-25, and ranges can run across the new year.

A line that cannot be read, such as a date that does not exist, is shown to you rather than guessed at. Up to 200 entries are used.

Week Starts and Week Numbers

Calendars in the United States and Canada usually begin the week on Sunday, while most of Europe and many other places begin on Monday. Choose either; the dates do not change, only where each row begins. Week numbers follow ISO 8601, which numbers weeks from Monday and counts week 1 as the week with the year's first Thursday. In 2026, for example, 1 January is a Thursday, so it falls in week 1, and the year has 53 weeks — 1 January 2027 still belongs to week 53 of 2026. With a Sunday start, each row shows the number of the week that contains its Thursday, so the Sunday that opens the row carries the number of the week beginning the next day. Weekdays are worked out by calendar arithmetic, with leap years handled by the Gregorian rule, for any date from 1900 to 2200.

School Years

Academic years start at different times: August or September in much of the Northern Hemisphere, and January or February in much of the Southern Hemisphere. The quick starts set August or September, and First month can be any month. The year-at-a-glance sheet then shows the twelve months from that month, headed with both years, such as 2026–2027. Add your term dates and breaks to the holiday box and the whole school year fits on one page. Nothing you type is uploaded.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make a school year calendar from August to July?
Choose Year at a glance, set the year to the one the school year starts in, and press Academic year from August (or September). The sheet shows the twelve months from that month, headed 2026–2027, and your breaks shaded. For one page per month, switch to One month per page and print twelve.
How do I add school holidays to the calendar?
Type them in the holiday box, one per line, with the date first and a label after it: 2026-12-21..2027-01-01 Winter break. Single days, ranges, and dates that repeat yearly (12-25) are supported. The generator adds no holidays itself, because they vary by place and year.
Can the week start on Monday?
Yes. Choose Monday under Week starts on. The rows, weekday headings and weekend shading all follow it, and week numbers stay correct for the new layout.
What are ISO week numbers?
ISO 8601 numbers the weeks of a year from 1 to 52 or 53. Weeks run Monday to Sunday and week 1 is the one containing the year's first Thursday, so the first days of January can belong to the last week of the previous year. Turn on ISO week numbers to show them.
Can I print a calendar for a past or future year?
Yes, any year from 1900 to 2200. Weekdays and leap years are computed rather than looked up, so 29 February appears in 2024 and 2028 and is absent in 1900 and 2100.
How do I leave room for notes?
On the One month per page layout, tick Notes area under each month. The date grid shrinks to make room for a ruled notes box at the bottom of every page. The year-at-a-glance sheet has no notes area, but it lists your holidays underneath.
Can I print the calendar in landscape?
Yes. Monthly pages default to landscape and the yearly sheet to portrait, and you can change either one with the Orientation list. A landscape year shows four months across; a portrait year shows three.
