How to Use the Emoji Text Generator
- 1. Choose what to make. Letter symbols swaps each letter for a symbol. Big block letters draws each letter as a 5 × 5 grid of emoji. Words to emoji replaces whole words.
- 2. Type your text. The result updates as you type. Use Try an example to see what each mode does.
- 3. Set the options. Pick a letter style, the emoji for the letters and background, or whether words are replaced or followed by their emoji.
- 4. Press Copy. Paste it into a chat, post or document. The count shows how long the result is, because chat apps limit message length.
Letter Symbols
The default style uses the regional indicator letters, the 26 symbols Unicode created for building flags. Two of them side by side make a flag — 🇺 followed by 🇸 becomes 🇺🇸 — so spelling a word with them risks turning letter pairs into flags. The tool therefore puts an invisible zero-width space between the letters, which breaks the pairing but is not visible. Choose A space or Nothing if you prefer. Digits become keycap emoji (1️⃣) and a few symbols become their emoji equivalents, such as ❗ and ❓.
The other two styles use squared letters (🄷🄴🄻🄻🄾) and black squared letters (🅷🅴🅻🅻🅾︎) from Unicode’s Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block. They are not emoji, so they take the colour of the surrounding text rather than a fixed colour. Only A, B, O and P also exist as coloured emoji (🅰️ 🅱️ 🅾️ 🅿️); the tool keeps those four in text style so the word looks even.

Big Block Letters
Each letter is five squares wide and five tall, with one square of background between letters. Choose any emoji for the letters and any for the background — coloured squares are the classic choice, but hearts, stars and flames work. Type or paste your own emoji in the boxes. The tool supports A–Z, 0–9, spaces and the marks ! ? . - : and lists anything it had to leave out. Letters wrap after the number you choose, with a blank line between lines.

Block letters get long quickly: one letter is 25 squares, and some emoji take two or more characters each. A few letters per line keeps a message under chat limits and readable on a phone; the counter warns you when the result passes about 2,000 characters. Fonts differ, so squares can show small gaps on some devices.
Words to Emoji
The word list covers common nouns, feelings, greetings, animals, foods and objects. Each entry was matched to its emoji by Unicode’s own name for it. Matching ignores capital letters and punctuation, and recognises simple plurals, so Cats finds 🐱. Words not in the list are left as they are, so the result is still readable.

Replace: I ❤️ 🍕 and my 🐱
Add after: I love ❤️ pizza 🍕 and my cat 🐱
This is a plain lookup — a fixed word list, with no AI and no guessing. Words with many meanings get one emoji. To browse emoji by name or keyword yourself, use the Emoji Search.
Before You Post
- Accessibility. Screen readers announce each letter symbol by its full Unicode name (for example regional indicator symbol letter H), which makes spelled-out words tedious to hear. Keep important messages in ordinary text.
- Search and filters. Words spelled in symbols are not matched by search, so do not use them in anything people need to find.
- Platform support. Appearance varies between Apple, Google, Microsoft and other platforms. Very new emoji may show as a box on older devices.
Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I write in emoji letters?
- Choose Letter symbols, type your text and copy the result. Each letter becomes a regional indicator symbol, and digits become keycap emoji. Letters with accents and other scripts have no symbol, so they stay as typed.
- Why do my emoji letters turn into a flag?
- Regional indicator letters combine in pairs into country flags, so two next to each other can show as one. The default invisible separator prevents it. If you pasted the text somewhere that strips invisible characters, choose A space instead.
- How do I make big letters out of emoji?
- Choose Big block letters, type a short word, and pick the emoji for the letters and the background. Each letter is drawn on a 5 × 5 grid. Keep to a few letters per line so the result stays within chat limits.
- Can I use any emoji for the block letters?
- Yes. Click one of the coloured squares, or type or paste any emoji into the letter or background box. Emoji that look like solid squares, such as 🟦 and ⬛, give the cleanest letters.
- Which emoji does the tool use for each word?
- The one Unicode’s short name describes: love becomes ❤️, cat becomes 🐱, pizza becomes 🍕. The mapping is a fixed list, and a word that is not on it is left unchanged.
- Is the emoji text copied as real emoji?
- Yes. The result is ordinary Unicode text, so it pastes into any app that accepts emoji. The tool does not upload your text or save it.
