- How are Scrabble points calculated?
- Each letter has a fixed tile value in standard English Scrabble (A=1, B=3, Q=10, Z=10, and so on). A word's base score is the sum of its letter values. Premium squares then multiply: double/triple letter squares multiply a single tile, and double/triple word squares multiply the whole word total after letter bonuses.
- How do letter and word multipliers combine?
- Letter multipliers are applied first to their individual tiles, then the resulting word total is multiplied by any word multiplier. For example, QUIZ with Q on a triple letter and the word on a double word scores (30+1+1+10) x 2 = 84.
- Does this tool check if my word is valid in Scrabble?
- No. It only computes the arithmetic score. Whether a word is playable depends on your dictionary (TWL, SOWPODS/Collins, or a house rule) — check an official word list for validity.
- What are the letter values in English Scrabble?
- 1 point: A, E, I, O, U, L, N, S, T, R. 2 points: D, G. 3 points: B, C, M, P. 4 points: F, H, V, W, Y. 5 points: K. 8 points: J, X. 10 points: Q, Z. Blank tiles score 0.
- Does the calculator include the 50-point bingo bonus?
- Not automatically. If you play all seven tiles from your rack in one turn, add 50 points to the total shown — the tool notes this when your word is seven or more letters.
