- How do I convert a 10-point CGPA to a percentage?
- The widely used Indian formula, popularized by CBSE, is percentage = CGPA × 9.5. A CGPA of 8.0 is therefore 76%. Many Indian universities use this convention, but some publish their own multiplier, so check your institution's rules for official conversions.
- Why is CGPA multiplied by 9.5 and not 10?
- CBSE derived the 9.5 factor by comparing the average marks of students in each grade band to their grade points. Multiplying by 10 would overstate most percentages, so 9.5 became the accepted convention.
