Frequently Asked Questions

How do I count the days between two dates?
Choose the "Difference between two dates" mode, pick a start and end date, and the calculator shows the total days, the same span as weeks plus days and months plus days, and the number of business days.
What counts as a business day?
Monday through Friday. The business-day count skips Saturdays and Sundays but does not account for public holidays, which vary by country and institution.
Is the end date included in the count?
The total-days figure is the span between the two dates — Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days. The business-day count works the same way: it counts each day after the start date up to and including the end date, skipping weekends.
How does adding business days work?
The calculator steps forward (or backward) one calendar day at a time and only counts weekdays. Adding 5 business days to a Friday lands on the Friday of the following week.
Does the calculator handle time zones and daylight saving?
Yes. All arithmetic is done on calendar dates in UTC, so daylight saving transitions and local time zones can't produce off-by-one-day errors.
