Frequently Asked Questions
- Does MLA need a title page?
- No. MLA 9 does not use a separate title page unless your instructor specifically requests one. Instead, you place a four-line heading (your name, instructor, course, and date) in the upper-left corner of the first page, followed by a centered title in title case.
- What is the difference between an APA student and professional title page?
- An APA 7 student title page includes the title, author, affiliation, course number and name, instructor, and due date, with a page number in the top-right corner. A professional title page replaces the course/instructor/date block with a running head in the top-left corner and an author note at the bottom of the page.
- Where does the title go on an APA title page?
- On an APA 7 title page the title is centered and bold, positioned three to four lines down from the top margin (roughly the upper third of the page). The author, affiliation, and remaining elements are centered below it.
- Can I paste the title page into Microsoft Word or Google Docs?
- Yes. The "Copy as Word-ready HTML" button copies a complete Times New Roman, double-spaced, one-inch-margin document to your clipboard that you can paste into Word or Google Docs, and the "Print" button lets you save it as a PDF.
