Frequently Asked Questions

Why does copied PDF text have unwanted line breaks?
PDFs store text with explicit line breaks at the end of each rendered line. When you copy and paste from a PDF, those line breaks are preserved as hard returns in plain text. This tool removes those hard returns so the text flows as a single paragraph.
What is the difference between removing line breaks and replacing with spaces?
Removing line breaks deletes them entirely, joining words that were on consecutive lines without any separator. Replacing line breaks with spaces adds a space character where each line break was, which is usually better for prose text to prevent words from running together.
Will this tool remove paragraph breaks too?
The default mode removes single line breaks but preserves paragraph breaks (two or more consecutive line breaks). The "Remove all line breaks" mode will remove all line breaks including paragraph separators, joining all text into one continuous block.
Can I use this to clean up email text?
Yes. Emails forwarded many times often have quote symbols and extra line breaks inserted automatically. Paste the email body into this tool to remove the line breaks. You may need to manually remove any > symbols or other forwarding artifacts.
